About IEEF
Helping our Itron colleagues in times of hardship
The Itron Employee Emergency Foundation (IEEF) is a nonprofit organization established in 2007. Directed and funded by Itron employees, we’re making a positive difference in the lives of our colleagues across North America by providing financial assistance when unexpected emergencies lead to financial hardship.

Our Story
The inspiration for the Foundation was sparked when an Itron colleague was diagnosed with Leukemia. There was an overwhelming response of generosity from people who had never met or known this person. It was a heartwarming experience. A year later, another employee was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Once again, Itron employees rallied to donate funds without knowing anything more than help was needed.
Although it’s easy to think, “it will never happen to me,” the reality is a sudden death in the family, medical emergency or unexpected change of circumstances could happen to anyone.
The grants provided by IEEF supplement Itron’s benefits package. As we review grant applications, we cross reference employee benefits and help educate employees about assistance the company offers that you may not realize you have access to.
The IEEF is nearly 100% employee funded. Donations can be made online or via payroll deduction. In 2025, more than 510 employees generously contributed over $60,000 to the IEEF through payroll deduction, events and one-time gifts. Itron matched many of those donations for a total of over $110,000 total contributed.
The IEEF is led by a passionate group of Itron employees who volunteer their time to lead the Foundation. A representative from each of Itron’s major North American facilities sits on the IEEF Board of Directors. Laurie Hahn, Itron’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources, serves as IEEF’s Executive Advocate.
